The word “gospel” means “good news,” and when we speak of the gospel, we are talking about the good news of Jesus Christ.  Paul summarized the gospel like this: “Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, he was buried, and he was raised on the third day” (1 Cor. 15:3-4).

But sharing the gospel is more than just reporting the facts of Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection.  It is also telling what that means to you.

Because Jesus died on the cross, my sins are forgiven.
Because Jesus was buried, my past is buried and forgotten.
Because Jesus arose from the dead, my life is eternal.

The gift of salvation is for anyone who will receive it.  To receive it, all you must do is turn away from your sin to Jesus, trust Him as your Savior and commit to Him as the Lord of your life.

If I am sworn in as a witness in a court room, I must tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth so help me God.

We do the same thing when we give testimony about Jesus Christ.  We tell what we know for sure about Jesus and how He has changed our lives.

We are giving testimony of our relationship with Jesus when we bring our offerings to the Lord, when we sing about Jesus, when we are baptized, when we share in the Lord's Supper, and when we tell our own personal stories of how Jesus changed our lives.

Last Sunday we emphasized the idea of "Testimony" during a special Palm Sunday musical in our church.  Between the choir's songs we included video clips from members who had shared their personal stories in worships services during the past couple of months.  During one of the song several choir members presented "cardboard testimonies," showing the difference God had made in their lives.  The service also included two baptisms and celebration of the Lord's Supper.

Early during the service I said to the congregation, "This morning, you are the jury.  Hear our testimony.  Then decide for yourselves whether or not Jesus has the power to change lives today."

At the end of the service four trusted Jesus as Savior and two others committed to be baptized on Easter Sunday.

Praise the Lord!
