Prayer Warriors, With just a few weeks left in Peru, I thought I'd send you this journal entry with a few top-10 lists. --Jonathan
Life in the jungle is: sleeping under mosquito nets, sitting on the side of the boat you're driving all day long under the scorching sun, eating parts of animals that you didn't even know existed, struggling to communicate in a tribal tongue that is only spoken by a couple of thousand people in the whole world, bathing in water so dirty that it's surprising that you actually feel clean afterwards, giving up your fight against the mosquito's and cockroaches and bugs because there's just too many of em', and going to sleep at sunset while waking up at first light.
It's a life unlike any I had previously known. While cliché to say, it is seriously nothing less than an entirely different world. The culture, world view, dialect, and way of life are much more similar to that of what I read in the Bible than to what I live at home. It's the unknown, wild, adventure I thought it would be, and, at the same time, it's laid-back and chilled-out and tranquil and filled with so much downtime that the days are often drawn-out and boring.
My experience has been coated with memorable moments that I will truly cherish. Out of those moments, though, there are certainly some things that stand out more than others as aspects that I have truly delighted in, while, conversely, there are other characteristics of this life, for which, I will not be found longing once I'm back home. So, with that said, here are a few lists that will probably not make the Tonight Show.
